My name is Krista Karkar and I am a third year film student at college of the canyons. My position at film club has been co-president for the past two semesters. Though my time in this leadership officer has been short, I’ve learned a vast majority about the film industry and about the club members and their passion for film. Film Club offers MEA students a chance to network and build connections with each other while also creating life long friendships. I am extremely grateful for my position with this club.

Oh hello! I didn't see you there.  You don't have to try to pronounce my last name. I've been attending community colleges for... a while now. But I JUST decided to change my major to Film about 2 years ago. I'm from Palmdale & transferred from AVC to COC (even though it's still another community college) specifically for what COC had to offer. This will be my last year here & I would like to make the most of it while I'm here! I love being in front of the camera as much as I love being behind it. My main focuses have been acting, writing, & directing, but over the years I have continued to learned & grown more interest in editing, producing, sound-mixing, & just helping out on set in general. I want to continue to grow & learn in ALL aspects & help as many as I can along the way because I know how hard it can be to try to make something. The saying "You work with who you like" is absolutely true. After a while you can kinda figure out why there's a bit of nepotism in Hollywood. But that is exactly why meeting/working with new people are important. Networking may be the most important thing you can do in this industry, & that is exactly what we're trying to do here. Build a community of like-minded creatives to help each other make more art! :)

The first film I ever made was in the 10th grade. It was notably my worst film to date. Any fanatic of film would know, the pinnacle of man’s career does not begin at the age of 15. No surprised there, but Lau Tzu once mentioned, “The journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step”. I began as a composer for film and transitioned into on-site and post production sound once I found my overall love for filmmaking. Being apart of the MEA program has led me to so many other opportunities. Such work titles as Stage Technician, Assistant Stage Manager in Theater and as an Event Coordinator for the DIY music scene in Downtown Los Angeles. Working under many roles has been a blessing of exponential personal growth. I stress the importance to applying oneself and I desire to see the best effort of anyone who wishes to have a meaningful life in entertainment, especially the MEA Film Club

Hi, I am the club secretary and a third year student at College of the Canyons.

I am a film major focusing on directing and writing, but I can also produce, edit, operate camera, and occasionally act. In the past year I have directed and written some short films and documentaries, but I couldn’t have done them without the help and support from film club. Film club is a great place for young filmmakers or creative artists to come together to collaborate and create something wonderful out of nothing. Sometimes these collaborative efforts result in some projects to be selected to play at the MEA showcase, which is a film festival held at the end of every semester year honoring the best productions. In addition to making short films I also help run an online show called Unchained SCV, which focuses on showcasing local indie/DIY musicians in the Santa Clarita Valley. We have some great musical performances and art/music festivals to host in the future, so stay tuned for new exciting content!

I am a director of photography, editor, and photographer. My main focus is shooting short films and features, but beyond that,

I do freelance for my personally founded company, "Total Form Productions".  I am currently going onto my 3rd year at College of the Canyons and I plan to transfer to USC or UCLA. This is my first semester as the Public Relations officer for Film Club and I am very excited!   I have learned so much in my experience in my film program as well as this amazing Film Club and I am very proud to be a part of it.  I also take headshots and shoot acting reels.  So contact me for any business inquiries and resumé requests.
